New Storage Service
Storage is a critical component to protecting university data. Various storage configurations provide a balance of cost and risk trade-offs. Tiered storage service offerings provide the capability to gracefully migrate data to lower cost options. The ability to backup and restore data supports various end-user controlled system access methods. The current draft service descriptions will be presented for feedback and input. The key questions to explore are: What are the key features and functions for university storage and backup services? What are the barriers to offering a university storage & backup service? What are the benefits of offering a university storage & backup service?
Enterprise Applications Roadmap
The Enterprise Applications team within the Office of the CIO has developed an Enterprise Applications Roadmap as a comprehensive planning tool that depicts the key business strategies, the major applications projects that support those strategies, and the key infrastructure projects required to enable the successful completion of the application projects. This roadmap will be a living document that covers a rolling five year window. It will serve as a valuable planning tool by visually representing the timelines for major projects and helping to illustrate the dependencies and linkages that exist amongst them. As an additional tool, a comprehensive application project portfolio has been created that additionally captures all medium and major projects over the next five years, plus those projects and repetitive activities required to maintain the ongoing viability of key applications (patches, upgrades, administrative and regulatory processes, etc.). Can the Enterprise Applications Roadmap be used to enhance the planning process for other IT organizations on campus?

University Password Practices
University Password Practices: How to support Ohio State's transition to standard, secure password practices that align to federation standards and our Enterprise IT Security Framework. In early May, the IT Security Framework project began socialization of standard university password practices to university leadership. The Identity and Access Management program provides a new, enhanced password self-service tool that enables application of these Password Practices. This presentation focuses on: the key elements of the Password Practices (complexity, history, maximum age) that impact the OSU community; functionality of the new password self-service tool (my.osu.edu); and the transition plan for supporting adoption by all users with an OSU Internet Username (lastname.# or Kerberos account).
