from Brian Newcomb, IT Service Management program director
Dear OCIO Team:
Welcome to the October IT Service Management Program Update. This month’s message will share progress made for Change Management and Problem Management.
Change Management (CM) Update:
CM implementations continue to move across the different service areas in OCIO as planned. Currently CM has been implemented for:
- Firewall/ACL changes
- Virtual and physical server changes
- Enterprise storage, data backup changes
- Digital Content Management (DCM) changes
- Networking changes.
Other CM progress highlights include:
- Portfolio & Program Management Office (PPMO) is currently bringing the project management functions of OCIO into the CM process. Details as to how project changes will follow the consistent CM process can be found on the OCIO Process Portal.
- The Learning Technology area has started implementing CM processes into their organization.
- Other near future CM implementations will include voice, video, and data center services.
Problem Management Update:
- The Problem Management (PM) project is also ready to implement CM, building on the work completed last fiscal year to define processes and update ServiceNow to accommodate PM workflow. Kevin Balogh, Problem Management process owner will lead this implementation.
