QM PRC Grant

Ohio State is a subscriber to Quality Matters (QM), a peer review process designed to ensure quality and continuous improvement of online and hybrid courses. Learning Technology provides various opportunities for faculty and staff to complete QM professional development courses. The $150 registration fee specifically for the QM Peer Reviewer Certification course is sponsored by Learning Technology through the QM PRC grant.

Who Can Apply

Eligibility requirements for the QM PRC grant:

  • successful completion of the Applying the QM Rubric Workshop
  • current (within the last 18 months) online teaching experience in a regular for-credit course
  • faculty or staff of Ohio State

How to Apply

Submit a QM PRC grant application

  • The number of QM PRC Grant recipients is limited to 10 in 2012.

Why to Apply

Peer Reviewer Certification allows online instructors to participate on formal peer reviews of online college courses from institutions across the nation. Upon successful completion of the PRC course, your name and areas of expertise will go into the QM database, and you may be called upon by QM to participate as a peer reviewer for a stipend.

Important notes

  • As a course participant, you should expect to spend 20-30 hours over two weeks to complete the PRC.
  • In return for the sponsorship of your $150 registration fee for the PRC course, Learning Technology will ask for your willingness to participate on two formal QM reviews for Ohio State without a stipend.
  • The Digital Union will sponsor the fee only if the PRC course is completed successfully. If an individual registers for the course and does not complete it successfully, that individual or his or her unit or department will be responsible for paying the registration fee. If cancellation is necessary, the registrant must cancel at least 24 hours before the start of the course by notifying QM and the QM Institutional Representative at Ohio State.
