Dec. 22-23 OSU E-mail Maintenance Phase 2 Cancelled

The Office of Information Technology has taken a series of incremental processes to stabilize and improve the central e-mail service and has cancelled the maintenance scheduled for Dec. 22-23.

OIT recognizes the impact of an extended e-mail outage, and has been working closely with technical architects from the e-mail vendor to lessen its effect. Together, OIT and the vendor have come up with a way to incrementally rebuild the database, as individual mailboxes are migrated to the upgraded mail system starting mid-January. This means that individual users will experience a mail outage for a brief period while their mail is being moved, but there is no need for a lengthy global mail outage. Because of this, the mail outage scheduled for December 22 is cancelled.
