Recently, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) announced it would be discontinuing its Client Computing Services for the university community on July 1, 2011. This service change included an end to the OCIO Hardware Warranty and Repair Service.
Based on discussions with Apple representatives, the OCIO will continue to provide repair service to Ohio State departments and colleges that have Apple devices covered under the Apple Repair Agreement (ARA) only (excluding iPods and iPads). Apple devices still under an ARA warranty can be brought to the IT Service Desk at 025 Central Classroom Building, 2009 Millikin Road, if repairs are necessary.
All other hardware warranty and repair services are no longer provided by OCIO, including servicing for Dell, Lenovo, HP, and any Apple devices covered under the new AppleCare Agreement. Departments and colleges with any of these devices are asked to seek alternative service providers or leverage existing warranties where possible. Ohio State Purchasing may be able to assist with identifying current vendors, registered with Ohio State, that can provide warranty and repair services.
