You can obtain FREE or discounted software by visiting the Campus Software Catalog online at the Office of the CIO’s (OCIO) Site Licensed Software group. The catalog features many software packages at no cost or at a discounted cost, based on your OSU affiliation. For example, Site Licensed Software recently began a five-year contract with Microsoft that not only gives faculty, staff, and students deep discounts on Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows upgrades, but also saves the university $675,000 over five years. Different Campus Software Catalog offerings are available based on whether you need the software for personal or university use:
- MS Office is now available for both Mac and Windows platforms at a substantial discount over previous years.
- Windows 8 upgrades are available for all students, faculty, and staff for $49.99. Windows upgrades can be used by students with Mac machines as well, expanding their ability to use certain Windows-only programs licensed by OSU to do research and coursework at home instead of in labs. These include titles such as NVivo, SAS, SYSTAT, Sigmaplot and more!
Faculty and Staff institutional use for university-owned equipment:
- Ability to virtualize MS Windows environments and MS Office to faculty, staff, and students on qualifying machines at no charge.
- Lower cost to departments for all of their Microsoft products. Visit the Campus Software Catalog on the OCIO site today to see a list of available software listed by platform. Many titles can be immediately downloaded from OCIO Self Service. Physical copies of software are distributed via several convenient walk-in locations on the Columbus campus:
