In conjunction with the Mobile First project, The Office of the Chief Information Officer is pleased to announce that we will be upgrading current Lync 2010 users to a new Skype for Business service beginning October 5.
Skype for Business includes enhancements to the Lync Instant Messaging and Presence service that is already being used campus wide. IM and Presence will continue to be available at no cost to any university employee. Individual units using the service will be able to choose to upgrade their users to a new client.
Voice services will be piloted by the OCIO and Office of Distance Education and eLearning beginning October 5, with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of Student Life to follow beginning October 24. Features of the voice services include desktop sharing, conferencing, a mobile client, and unified messaging that allows users to receive voice messages in their email. Users in Arts and Sciences and Student Life will receive state-of-the-art unified communications systems that have features to enrich communication and collaboration.
Any questions regarding Skype for Business can be directed to the IT Service Desk at 614-688-HELP (4357) or email@example.com.
