Expanding on the OCIO's Year of eLearning efforts, the planned update to Carmen in late December will bring a number of positive changes to the learning management system.

In conjunction with Ohio State's Year of eLearning, Carmen, OSU’s learning management system, will be updated after the end of autumn quarter 2010. OCIO staff are working now to ensure that Carmen will continue to integrate smoothly with other OSU systems and that faculty and staff have opportunities to explore the updated system.
Did you know that the Office of the Chief Information Officer maintains several technology-rich classrooms within the regular classroom pool? These innovative spaces include rooms with SMART Boards and a computer-equipped classroom designed especially for collaborative work. Beginning Autumn 2010, these classrooms will be equipped with self-help documentation. Additionally, pre-quarter and mid-quarter orientation programs will be offered to help instructors incorporate available technologies into their teaching routine.
The Office of the Chief Information Officer’s HomeNet dial-up Internet service will be discontinued on September 1, 2010. HomeNet was implemented many years ago at a time when few dial up alternatives were available. OCIO has decided to discontinue offering HomeNet due to outdated equipment, a declining user-base, and the current budget constraints.

Effective July 1, the monthly subscription rate for Ohio State's Basic Cable TV service on the Columbus campus will increase to $19.20 from $19 per month, per outlet.
