This August we turn the spotlight on to Senior Help Desk Analyst Extraordinaire, Justin Eyer. This soccer loving sword enthusiast tends to wear many hats, in and out of the office. Among the many duties Justin tackles in the OCIO, one of his favorites is molding his student workers and preparing them for the future. For July, the spotlight shines on three-year OCIO vet Patrick Mayer, the sarcastic Senior Security Engineer. Patrick enjoys the daily challenges he battles from Baker, where acronyms (like SEP and MDM) abound. Former photo historian and trapeze guru, this Tennessee native can be found reading a good book and enjoying a craft beer when he’s away from the university (and the kiddos). Q: What is your role at the OCIO? Senior Security Engineer – Information Protection
This month the spotlight is shining bright on fiscal officer, Kristina Davis. This OCIO vet of 20 years and counting is likely to be found cheering on her daughters when she’s not cleaning up the books at TNC. This mother of three (one of her children has fur) loves the beach, which complements her easygoing personality. This month the spotlight falls on newbie systems developer, Cole Toler. With dreams of a tech career starting at a young age, Cole graduated from DeVry and gained the experience needed to get his coding career off to a solid start in the OCIO. Read on to find out what this developer does during his downtime.
Q: What is your role at the OCIO? I am a systems developer for the local apps team. I take part in developing new university software as well as maintain existing applications that keep work flowing throughout the university.
For April, the spotlight falls on OCIO veteran and organizer extraordinaire, Lisa Calcara. This Project Assistant has been with the OCIO for over 25 years and got her start at the university as a student employee in UNITS. Lisa loves coaching her own student employees as well as rooting on her favorite Ohio sports team, the Columbus Blue Jackets. In the spotlight this month is HR Assistant Carissa (Carie) Moran. A fresh face in the OCIO, she’s also one of the first people new employees will meet as they follow the onboarding process to join the organization. This month’s employee spotlight falls on number cruncher and inconsistency seeker, Seth Grover. While he got his start in the OCIO at 8-HELP, his love of bookkeeping transitioned him seamlessly into the Finance realm. When not spending time poring over transactions at TNC, Seth can be found enjoying a slice at Hounddog’s or besting his buds at board games. Learn more about Fiscal Associate Seth Grover.
This month’s spotlight falls on Alireza Amini, a member of the Middleware Administration team. This black belt (in Six Sigma) enjoys tennis and water sports, as well as creatively solving tricky tech problems. Holding a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees from Ohio State, Alireza shares his vast knowledge and talents with the OCIO to support major university systems.
Aaron Minnick came to us from Indiana, bringing along with him a diverse background of work experience. He previously dabbled in trades such as bicycle repair, backstage theater and marketing before making his way to the OCIO, despite his efforts to “run away” from IT. This jack of all trades (and instruments!) is now enjoying his work with business customers, making sure they are able to navigate and optimize Student Information Systems applications.
