In conjunction with the Mobile First project, The Office of the Chief Information Officer is pleased to announce that we will be upgrading current Lync 2010 users to a new Skype for Business service beginning October 5.
Beginning August 17, there will be a new automated process for university employees to request Instant Messaging and Presence (Lync). As previously announced, The Office of the Chief Information Officer will no longer be automatically provisioning all university employees to receive the service.
Current IM and Presence users will not need to take any action. This request process is only for the following types of users who do not currently have IM and Presence capabilities:
The OCIO will be making Microsoft Lync Instant Messaging (IM) and Presence available university-wide beginning May 19. Offered at no cost, Lync is a valuable communication tool that allows for quick messaging of co-workers, regardless of location. The Lync client will be available for download from Site Licensed Software (SLS) beginning May 19. Units whose users do not have administrative privileges on their machines will need to have their local IT staff download and install the client. For more details....
