The OCIO Student Advisory Committee met for the first time this April and we are very excited about what we can learn from this great group of students. The committee will participate in planning the future direction of campus technology support and services, discuss how the university can enhance the information technology skills of students, and address information technology access issues on campus. As part of the university's continuing effort to build seamless access into our environment and culture, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office for Disabilities Services (ODS), and the ADA Coordinator’s Office are pleased to announce the availability of JAWS (Job Access With Speech), Read and Write Gold, and ZoomText in libraries and computer labs throughout campus.

Software: SAS Renewal Codes for Windows, Linux, and Sun
Description: SAS for Teaching and Research use is now available for renewal. SAS Administrative use, due to an issue with invoicing on SAS' part, has a temporary extension in place. Details on this extension are below.
Customers who have renewed their copies of SAS since Sept. 1, 2011, are considered paid through Sept. 30, 2012.
Effective immediately the Office of the Chief Information Officer is pleased to announce that the university has signed an amendment with Apple that overrides unacceptable choice of law and indemnification language in software license agreements. It is the first of its kind ever agreed to by Apple, allowing staff and faculty to:
PGP Desktop 10.2 has been released by Symantec. The Office of the Chief Information Officer will enable PGP software update alerts on December 4. Notifications will be sent to each computer that has PGP Desktop installed alerting customers that an update is available.

Summary of Consumer Information on Copyrighted Materials
The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 requires the university to annually notify students about consumer information on the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted materials through illegal downloading or peer-to-peer distribution of intellectual property. This information can also be beneficial to faculty and staff.
