Finding the lowest price on Apple products just got easier for Ohio State students, faculty and staff. OSU’s Digital First initiative recently announced that The Ohio State University community can now save up to 12% on Apple hardware products through an exclusive agreement with Apple.

The pricing, which is below the standard academic discounts for Apple hardware products, includes everything from the new iPad, iMac, and Mac Pros to the MacBook Pro with Retina display.

The OCIO Student Advisory Committee met for the first time this April and we are very excited about what we can learn from this great group of students. The committee will participate in planning the future direction of campus technology support and services, discuss how the university can enhance the information technology skills of students, and address information technology access issues on campus.  Our group objectives are to:

The Office of the Chief Information Officer Learning Technology Departmental Impact Grant application period is open now through May 21. "Consider this grant an opportunity to create an exemplar key or large course for your department," said Robert Griffiths, OCIO faculty development lead.

Recipients are provided up to 200 hours of Learning Technology expertise and $15,000 (minimum 1:2, non-LT:LT, matching) to extend learning technology use that increases student engagement, facilitates greater instructor efficiency, or enables anytime/anyplace learning.

As part of the university's continuing effort to build seamless access into our environment and culture, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office for Disabilities Services (ODS), and the ADA Coordinator’s Office are pleased to announce the availability of JAWS (Job Access With Speech), Read and Write Gold, and ZoomText in libraries and computer labs throughout campus.

The College of Social Work is putting instructors to the test in their newest learning technology project. iPads were provided to faculty and staff college-wide last month, as well as the first of many collaborative training sessions through the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Teaching, research, community practice, and productivity are the focus areas for the initiative, with an emphasis on using iPads at a higher level than their toyish reputation implies.

Adapting to Student Learning Styles

Due to security measures being put in place around RPAC for President Barack Obama's visit to Ohio State and already low walk-in volume from spring break, the OCIO IT Service Desk at 025 Central Classroom Building and the BuckeyeBar, 60A Thompson Library, will close at Noon on Thursday (3/22).

All other IT Service Desk areas including 8help@osu.edu and 688-HELP (4357), will remain open. For those individuals who need to drop off/pick up documents/projects during this time, contact Classroom Design at 292-3131 and/or Media Services at 292-9689.

Explore ways to get an accurate transcript and create the synchronized caption track and learn how to present captioned video to your users in various ways.
