Telephone Features

In addition to local telephone service, our office offers a variety of optional telephone features that you may request. A list of the features, with their associated monthly and one-time installation fees, is provided below.

 Call Forward Busy (CFB)
This feature forwards your telephone number to another pre-designated campus telephone or to Voice Mail when your line is busy. The number receiving your forwarded calls can only be programmed and changed per an order request.

 Call Forward Don't Answer (CFD)
CFD forwards your telephone number to another pre-designated university telephone or to Voice Mail if there is no answer after 4-5 rings. The number receiving the forwarded calls can only be programmed and changed per an order request.

 Call Forward Programmable (CFI)
CFI enables you to forward your phone calls for a particular line to another University phone number or to your voice mailbox (614-688-4141). To activate CFI, you dial *71 and then the 5-digit campus phone number where you want your calls to ring. To return your phone to normal dial, *70.

 Call Waiting
This feature allows you to answer a second incoming telephone call, temporarily placing the first caller on hold.

How To Use Call Waiting
While talking with the first caller you will hear a beep tone in your ear. Simply depress your telephone switchhook or flash button. This will place your first caller on hold and connect you to your second incoming caller. After you have finished your conversation with the second caller, depress your switchhook or flash button again and you will be reconnected with your first caller.

Also, you can temporarily deactivate the Call Waiting feature by dialing *74 before placing a call. This can be especially important to use when you wish to transmit computer data across your telephone line. Call Waiting is automatically reactivated when you place your next call.

 Caller ID
This feature displays the number of the incoming call, allowing you to see who is calling before you answer. Caller ID offers phone number display only. Keep in mind, not all areas have Caller ID and callers may block display of their telephone number.

Note: Caller ID capability is not available on most long distance calls.

When ordering Caller ID, one of our technicians will need to install service in your residence. You will need to complete a service request form at your residence office to allow the technician to access your residence if you are not at home.  Please allow 3-5 business days for your Caller ID to be installed.

 Three-way Conference/Call Transfer
Three-way Conference enables you to conference your telephone with two additional parties. These parties can be either campus or off campus telephones. This is accomplished by using the TAP/FLASH button on a single line telephone, the LINK key on a Meridian one or two line phone and the CONF 3 button on an electronic telephone. Call Transfer allows you to transfer a call to another campus phone number. This is accomplished by using the TAP/FLASH button on a single line telephone, the LINK button on a Meridian one or two line phone and the CONF 3 button on an electronic telephone.

NOTE: One of the three parties on a 3-Way Conference must always be a campus phone line. If you are conferencing with two off-campus parties and you disconnect your call, the off-campus parties will also be disconnected.

 Voice Mail
Voice Mail is an optional feature and provides your with an answering service. Incoming calls forward to your voice mailbox via a "busy" (CFB) or "no answer" (CFD) condition. Stutter dial tone is your message waiting indicator (MWT). For how to use Voice Mail click here.
