WebCT is the primary Web-based course management system supported by the Office of Information Technology. Instructional development specialists and other OIT staff are available to assist, in a variety of ways, faculty who want to add a technology component to their classes or create an entire distance education course. You can also use WebCT to create a Web page for your course syllabus and other materials and list your course in the Class Web Site Registry. Also ask the TELR support staff about WebCT tools such as discussion boards, live chat and whiteboard, calendar, gradebook, notebook, student presentations, group discussion areas, content paths with bookmarking and progress tracking, glossary, audio and video clip and CD-ROM integration.
TELR offers training on WebCT software every quarter for OSU faculty and staff. For the training schedule and details on any of the following, check the TELR Web site.
Sessions are held on first Fridays of each month and cover a different topic involving design and coaching of an online class. The sessions are suitable for all WebCT skill levels including beginners.
Twice a month, OIT's WebCT instructional development specialists are available for assistance in one-on-one and small-group meetings in the studio of the new Learning Technologies Center, 60 Denney Hall. No appointment is necessary; hours are 1 to 4 p.m on the second and fourth Fridays of the month.
Customized Training Sessions
The TELR WebCT team will come to you for training specific to your area or department and work with you to customize a training session. For details, send e-mail to email@example.com.
