Digital Union Hosts Summer Workshops on Various Multimedia

The Digital Union is conducting the following series of free summer workshops on popular multimedia, including podcasting, web design, and video production. A four-hour course on videoconferencing is also available to network administrators. The workshops all take place in the Digital Union, located on the third floor of the Science and Engineering Library. Registration is required and can be done online one to two weeks before each workshop takes place.

  • June 29, 1-3 pm
    Photoshop workshop covers the preparation of images for the web, including cropping images and reducing file size for bandwidth limitations.
  • July 6, 1-5 pm
    H.323 Videoconferencing Administration. This four-hour course, designed for administrators of H.323 networks, covers all of the elements needed for successful H.323 Videoconferencing by IP.
  • July 10, 1-3 pm
    Podcasting. Learn why this technology is causing a buzz in both education and pop culture. This workshop explains podcasting, covers the tools available at Ohio State to assist or automate the creation of podcasts, and helps you create your own podcast.
  • July 11, 1-3 pm
    iMovie Basics workshop covers the basics of creating your own iMovie with iSaw, iVideoed, iScript, iRecorded, iEdited, and iBurned.
  • July 24, 1-3 pm
    Web Design Basics workshop explains the basics of how websites work, helps you to avoid common missteps and misconceptions, and teaches you how to put one together using HTML and CSS with Dreamweaver.
  • July 25, 1-3 pm
    iMovie Advanced workshop covers new features found in v.6, especially multiple files; adding sounds with GarageBand and iTunes; adding stills or movies from Powerpoint and Photoshop; compression techniques; and using shareware to extract video from existing DVDs for reediting. Attendees should have basic skills in the software being covered.
  • August 7, 1-3 pm
    Web Design Advanced workshop covers basic CSS layouts, Dreamweaver templates to organize your site design, and adding more complex content.
  • August 14, 1-3 pm
