This summer we will be launching Student Advantage to all Ohio State Students. Student Advantage is a Microsoft program that allows academic institutions that license Office for staff and faculty to provide Office 365 ProPlus for students at no additional cost.
“(When Student Advantage was launched,) Microsoft and IDC conducted a study to identify the skills and competencies highly valued by employers,” said Anthony Salcito, Vice President of Worldwide Education at Microsoft. “Oral and written communications was listed as the number-one most sought-after skill, with detail orientation being number two. Proficiency with Microsoft Office was number three.”
Microsoft Office 365 Education Student Advantage will give our students access to free Microsoft Office products, allowing them to:
- Install up to five free, concurrent copies across different personal desktop and laptop computers (PC or Mac), mobile devices and tablets.
- Receive 1 TB of OneDrive for Business storage.
- Access online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.
Students don’t need to take any action to receive these benefits. They must have a BuckeyeMail account to use Student Advantage, so we will create BuckeyeMail accounts for those students who do not currently have one. This program is also available to staff members who are Ohio State students; however, staff must continue to use their university email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) for all university business.
Users will receive more information via email when the service becomes available. As with all technology services, those who require additional assistance can contact the IT Service Desk via email or at 614-688-HELP (4357) or TDD: 614-688-8743. They can also visit one of our BuckeyeBar locations at Thompson Library or Tech Hub.
