CoolTechGirls Gives Teens a Taste of Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity offers fun and challenging careers, and shows like Homeland, CSI Cyber and Mr. Robot have made it cool.

But to really captivate the security geniuses of tomorrow, observing isn’t enough. They want to get involved and be challenged. That’s idea behind CoolTechGirls’ Think Like a Hacker event on Dec. 3.

“Cybersecurity is in demand and we’re taking a proactive approach to attracting the best and brightest to the field,” said Chief Security Officer Helen Patton. “Ohio State has teamed up with CoolTechGirls for a challenging, fun event that will give teen girls an opportunity to think like a cybersecurity professional.”

Ohio State is teaming up with IGS Energy and Cybervation to create the event. It provides a series of puzzles, each of which must be solved to move on to the next. The final task especially challenges participants to “think like a hacker,” to achieve the ultimate goal of the series.’

We are looking for volunteers to work the event and be mentors. Please sign up for our Volunteer Orientation session:
