As of Monday, September 12, BuckeyePass is protecting your personal information in the Employee Self Service (ESS) system within Human Resources. BuckeyePass is a multi-factor authentication service that provides a second layer of protection for university. You may already be using multi-factor authentication to log in to your bank account, email or social media accounts.

In conjunction with the Mobile First project, The Office of the Chief Information Officer is pleased to announce that we will be upgrading current Lync 2010 users to a new Skype for Business service beginning October 5.
Beginning September 12, all HR professionals and university employees will be required to use BuckeyePass along with their Ohio State username and password to access the HR Information System and Employee Self Service (ESS).

Beginning August 17, there will be a new automated process for university employees to request Instant Messaging and Presence (Lync). As previously announced, The Office of the Chief Information Officer will no longer be automatically provisioning all university employees to receive the service.
Current IM and Presence users will not need to take any action. This request process is only for the following types of users who do not currently have IM and Presence capabilities:
It’s easy to forget your password if you’ve been away from Ohio State for a few months. Now there’s a new, easier way to reset your password by receiving using the SMS text message service on your phone (SMS is “Short Message Service”).
The Enterprise Security Group manages the SSL certificate process using InCommon as our vendor. It is possible to do wildcard certificates with this process, but only recognized owners of the domain space (i.e. the registered DNAs) may request wildcard certificates for their subdomains.
This is not a mandatory program; units are allowed to purchase from any retailer but OCIO IT Security offers this as a cost saving option with a reputable reseller that we have vetted.
