Box has released some new features, which are now available on BuckeyeBox. These features include timestamps, as well as updates to Box Sync 4.0, the iPhone and iPad apps and m.Box.com.
New preview experience
On Monday, December 16, starting at approximately 4 p.m. EST, Box will be migrating all BuckeyeBox accounts to utilize the new preview experience. Please note that this new preview option does NOT have the ability to print directly from the preview experience.
The BuckeyeBox service is officially launching for campus-wide use, as of today. A.box.com website still has some improvements to make. Ohio State holds high standards for accessibility and we hope to see several improvements for this tool so that persons with disabilities have a truly equal experience when using BuckeyeBox, compared to the average user.
Studies show that about 29% of security breaches involve emails that contain malicious links or attachments that, when clicked, give the attacker a foothold in the victim’s network. A key goal of the university email migration project is to safeguard against these attacks. With 52% of users on campus migrated, this project represents a huge step toward securing university information.
A file sharing and collaboration tool is only valuable with mobility and versatility. That’s why the BuckeyeBox team has tested and synched with three additional mobile applications to unite with Ohio State’s cloud collaboration tool: CloudOn, Notability and iAnnotate.
Synching new Applications with the BuckeyeBox tool for mobile collaboration and cloud sharing is a balancing act. We want to make your work easier, more mobile and collaborative, while keeping university data secure. After testing QuickOfficePRO, we concluded that the app did not appropriately safeguard university data (and we're disappointed, too!).
A small adjustment is being made to the login page for the BuckeyeBox vendor. Osu.box.com will redirect to osu.app.box.com starting July 10, 2013. If you see the URL in your address bar change, know that this is normal.
This URL change shouldn't have much impact on your BuckeyeBox experience. Ohio State's BuckeyeBox landing page, box.osu.edu, will still direct you to the correct login page. If you have a box.com bookmark it will redirect as well, but it's always a good idea to keep your bookmarks current.
On Monday, May 20 BuckeyeBox hit a milestone -- 10,000 users. This is a ringing endorsement of our collaboration and information sharing platform, and a great accomplishment, especially considering that we have yet to roll the tool out to the student body.
If you're a graduating senior, you may lose your ability to connect with certain systems as early as Sunday, May 5. If you have files on BuckeyeBox that you want to keep, you can turn your account into a personal Box.com account. Step-by-step instructions are available in OCIO's Knowledge Base.
