Constant communication is key for those who work continuously to keep Ohio State facilities safe and fully operational. Microsoft Teams, one of Ohio State’s newest Office 365 tools, takes digital communication among faculty, staff and students beyond the basic chatroom. Teams integrates with other Office 365 programs, creating an all-in-one digital workspace catered to seamless collaboration. Teams works around the clock to support university communication anytime, anywhere.
Several years ago, Ohio State formed contracted with Box.com for a cloud storage and collaboration solution. Once we added some security and set up unlimited storage, we launched the BuckeyeBox for all Ohio State users
Unlimited Storage: What You Need to Know
If you are a student or an employee of Ohio State, you already have free access to Office Online and BuckeyeBox, with unlimited storage thanks to the university. Put the two together and you have a winning combination.
On June 14, OCIO will be enabling the new Box user interface. We’ve published an article in our Knowledge Base, article KB05374 with resources for navigating the new design. You can preview this new interface by enabling it for your BuckeyeBox account now.
The updated interface is designed to create a simpler, more user-friendly experience. Improvements include:
Can CRM work at Ohio State? It’s a reasonable question. For starters, in an organization this big, very few initiatives are simple. And you may have heard that Customer Relationship Management (CRM) initiatives – especially at large organizations – are notorious for failing. We knew all of this when discussions first began at Ohio State, and we didn’t want to become just another statistic.
The Ohio Higher Education Computing Council (OHECC) brings together information technology (IT) organizations and professionals from institutions of higher education in the state of Ohio. This year Ohio State is hosting the annual OHECC conference on May 17-19, giving central Ohio IT professionals the opportunity to attend without the added cost of travel, meals and accommodations.
5 Reasons to Choose It and Use It
Not only do you have a choice in cloud storage and collaboration services, but more choices are also being added to the market on a regular basis. They include options like Dropbox, Google Drive and Box. As cloud storage becomes more advanced, more products will undoubtedly be added to the mix.
Dave Kieffer, Senior Director of Enterprise Applications, found opportunity in an unexpected place. When he realized that Ohio State students were interning at Hyland, the vendor that provides OnBase software for OCIO’s Enterprise Document Management, he saw the chance to bring tech talent back to the university while also building a mutually beneficial relationship with a major vendor. Meeting with these students to share employment opportunities was just the beginning.
The BuckeyeBox service is officially launching for campus-wide use, as of today. A.box.com website still has some improvements to make. Ohio State holds high standards for accessibility and we hope to see several improvements for this tool so that persons with disabilities have a truly equal experience when using BuckeyeBox, compared to the average user.
