The first full Semester for Ohio State is upon us! As the Semester Conversion project work is winding down, the OCIO is pleased to share many innovations realized from the conversion. A huge thank-you goes to those individuals in Academic Affairs, Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience, the Department of Athletics, Student Health Services, and the offices of Graduate and Professional Admissions, the University Registrar, Student Financial Aid, the University Bursar, Human Resources, Business and Finance, and International Affairs’ Study Abroad program for their diligence and for allowing OCIO to work as part of their teams in successfully moving to the semesters-based calendar.

University Registrar and Office of the CIO team members successfully completed the initial semesters statistics recalculation on Sunday, April 15. Ohio State’s conversion to semesters requires that hour-based cumulative student statistics (including earned units, graded units, etc.) be recalculated to provide semester-based cumulative statistics.
A new online Course Conversion Guide (CCG) is being made available to translate the current quarter course offerings to the still-developing semester course catalog as an additional tool to aid in the move to semesters-based curricula. Users will be able to search the guide by subject, course number, title, and additional attributes (i.e., General Education, Honors). Users will also be able to obtain information about equivalent, transitional and new courses, as well as converted sequences.
The Office of the CIO has recently partnered with the Semesters Advising sub-committee to develop an on-line tool to help students and Academic Advisors map future course schedules as Ohio State moves to a semester-based calendar. TAP, the Transitional Academic Plan, is a new feature within the Student Information System. Although the tool is built to support the calendar conversion, use of the planning tool will continue well beyond the transition.
